Averitt Honored By TTA For Sustainability & Safety Efforts

Averitt has been awarded the 2021 Clean Diesel Leadership Award and 2nd Place Safety Award for the company’s less-than-truckload (LTL) fleet from the Tennessee Trucking Association (TTA). Presented at the TTA 91st Annual Convention, the awards recognize the transportation and logistics service provider for its efforts in improving fuel conservation and sustainability within in its fleet, as well as the company’s safe driving record.

By investing in the industry’s most modern trucks and trailers, in conjunction with optimizing its operations for fuel efficiency, Averitt has made several measurable achievements that provide a positive impact for its customers, including:

  • 36% reduction carbon dioxide emissions
  • 88% reduction in nitrogen oxide emissions
  • 6.2 million gallons of diesel fuel saved

Additionally, the organization utilizes a variety of associate initiatives in conjunction with modern equipment and technology to enhance its safety performance.

Averitt associates, including local truck drivers, flatbed drivers, regional truck drivers, shuttle drivers, and diesel mechanics, and are required to complete several days of orientation, which include protective driving techniques, operational technology training and accident reporting. All Averitt drives are required to complete annual OSHA training programs and updated online safety courses. Additionally, the company conducts monthly education campaigns to highlight important components of safe driving.

At the same time, Averitt utilizes the latest trucks and trailers that come equipped with safe driving technology, including collision-avoidance, forward-facing event recorders, anti-jacknife, rollover stability systems and lane-departure systems.

In 2021 (Jan-Sept), Averitt reduced its preventable accidents by 15 percent and work-related injuries by 6 percent compared to 2019.
