The web portal (Click here to visit) for submitting exclusion requests for the third round (tranche) of China tariffs to the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative is now open through Sept. 30. Parties must register on the portal before submitting exclusion requests, which can include a range of similar goods for products defined in the request. Challenges to exclusion requests must be posted within 14 days.

Any exclusions which are approved will have an effective date that will be retroactive to Sept. 24, 2018, when the Trump administration imposed 10 percent tariffs on $200 billion in goods from China. In May, President Trump hiked the tariffs to 25 percent after negotiators were unable to resolve trade differences.

A recent Federal Register notice includes the necessary form and details about what information to include in the request.
